6 Life Lessons Learned from a Single Canoe Trip
I’m not always an adventurer. Mostly because of my horrendous allergies and dislike of bugs, but occasionally you’ll find me outside my comfort zone doing adventurous things outdoors. Many life lessons learned this summer as I went canoeing for the first time. 🛶
It doesn’t matter how fast you’re paddling if you don’t know where you’re going.
Some things take more than one person to accomplish, and everyone needs to be paddling in the same direction.
If you get stuck in a fallen tree, smacked in the face with huge branches, run directly into a wall of boulders head-on, or have a giant spider in your boat along for the ride… don’t panic or you may tip the boat.
Just have fun. Not everything is a competition and not every moment should be taken seriously.
Sometimes it takes a lot of paddling against the current to get where you want to go. And occasionally you’ll need someone to help pull you in because you are exhausted but refuse to quit.
Prepare for rapids and be thankful if you don’t have to face them.
Guess what? We ended up at our destination after about eight miles of chaos and laughed while reflecting on all of the above.
